Government dept. unions demand wage revision - Chennai protest ;by JCA of NC JCM

The Joint Council of Action (JCA), South Zone, representing unions of Railways, Defence, Postal and other Central government departments organised a demonstration near the Chennai Collectorate stressing various demands including wage revision and prevention of privatisation. They submitted a memorandum containing over 37 demands to the Collector after the demonstration.

 

More than 1,000 members of various unions including the Southern Railway Mazdoor Union (SRMU), All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF) and National Federation of Postal Employees (NFPE) took part in the two-hour long demonstration that started at noon.

Among the various demands were: to effect the Central Government Wage Revision for employees from January 1, 2014; ensure wage revision for employees once in five years; ban privatisation, public private partnerships or foreign direct investments in railways and defence establishments and give up corporatisation of postal services.

 

They also wanted the government to avoid outsourcing of government activities and withdraw the move to close down the printing presses, publication forms store, stationery departments and medical stores depots. The Unions also wanted the government to improve the condition of railway hospitals. 

 

N. Kanniah, general secretary, SRMU and the convener of JCA, South Zone mentioned that this was the first time the ‘defence’ unions were taking part in a protest in association with other Central government Unions. 

 

C. Srikumar, general secretary, AIDEF, said only the Railways offers 100 percent appointment on compassionate grounds — the other Central government departments offer only 5 percent.

 

“Due to this, hardly one or two candidate obtain jobs under this category every year. We want the government to remove this slab,” he added.

Central Government staff demand early implementation of wage revision - Chennai

Members of the Joint Council of Action South Zone which represents employees from the Railway, Defence, Postal and other Central Government departments organised a protest meeting near the Collectorate premises here on Monday.

 

More than 300 members of various associations, including Southern Railway Mazdoor Union (SRMU), All India Defence Employees’ Federation (AIDEF) and National Federation of Postal Employees (NFPE), participated in the protest meeting. Zonal president Raja Sridhar and divisional secretary J.M. Rafiq addressed the meeting.

 

The members also submitted a petition at the Collectorate along with a copy of the demands adopted by the National Convention of the Central Government Employees in December 2014.

 

In their 37-point charter of demands, the employees asked for the implementation of wage revision for Central government employees, which should be done once in every five years.

 

‘No privatisation’

 

They also demanded that no privatisation or Foreign Direct Investment should be allowed in railways and defence establishments, and opposed corporatisation of postal services.

 

Among other things, they also opposed outsourcing and privatisation of governmental functions and asked the government to withdraw the proposed move to close down printing presses.

 

Stating that many residential quarters needed renovation, the employees urged the Central government to carry out repairs, not to compel staff to stay in inhabitable quarters, and pay house rent allowance.

PRESS STATEMENT.

Budget 2015-16.

The Budget of Modi Government for the year 2015-16 presented today to the Parliament by the Finance Minister, Shri. Arun Jaitley belied all expectations of the poor people who placed their faith in the BJP in the last general elections.   It is without doubt an anti-poor and pro-rich Budget.  The Corporate Tax has been slashed to please the giant multinational Corporate houses, who really are the rulers in most of the Countries of the world, including ours.  The Government has foregone about 8300 crores of direct tax revenue.  The burden has been put on to the shoulders of the common working people in the form of indirect taxes to the extent of more than 23000 crores mostly coming from the increased service tax kitty.

Except raising the transport allowance exemption from Rs. 800 to Rs. 1600 p.m which only benefits the higher segment of tax payers among the salaried class, no concession or tax reduction has been given to the wage earners. 

By not raising the non-taxable maximum which was needed in view of the high level of inflation, Modi Government has not only squeezed the middle class but also amassed more tax revenue from those class of wage earners, who get dearness compensation.  In the process Government continue to ignore several judgements to exempt DA from taxation as DA is considered as a receipt, compensatory in nature. The salaried class of tax payers was constantly demanding the re- introduction of deduction under section 16(1) of the I.T. Act which was in vogue years back.  While retaining such concessession and deduction to all other segment of tax payers, the Government continue to penalise wage earners who are really the honest tax payers.

Allocation for every social welfare schemes which targets the deprived section of the society has been reduced in percentage terms, the largest reduction being in the ICDS programme.  The tax concessions to the rich and corporate houses are of the order of 5.89 lakh crores. This apart, the wealth tax has been fully abolished.

The Budget 2015-16 has unambiguously declared the intention of the Modi Government to pursue the neo- liberal economic policies vigorously.

LEGENDARY LEADER OF CG EMPLOYEES COMRADE S.K.VYAS PASSED AWAY

With deep grief and extreme sorrow, it is intimated that Com. S.K.Vyas, the legendary leader of the Central Govt. Employees and   Pensioners, is no more. He passed away at about 08.20 PM on 13 February 2015, at  a Jaipur hospital, where he was admitted a few days back after a massive heart attack. He was recovering, but all of a sudden, the situation worsened and he passed away.He was 85 years.                                                                                                                                                           Com.Vyasji was the Secretary General of the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees and workers since 1967 for more than four decades. He was holding the posts of Secretary General of both BCPC and NCCPA, Federations of Pensioners Associations till his end.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               His death is an irreparable loss to the entire CGE and Pensioners movement.Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends and comrades.TEARFUL Red Salute to Com.S.K.Vyasji !

Com S. K. Vyasji, Veteran Leader of Central Govt. Employees and Advisor Confederation had a massive heart attack and admitted to hospital at Jaipur. Now he is recovering. மத்திய அரசு ஊழியர் மகா சம்மேளனத்தின் தமிழ் மாநில சிறப்புக் கூட்டம் கடந்த 28.01.2015 அன்று மதியம் 01.00  மணியளவில்  சென்னை சாஸ்திரி பவன்  கூட்ட அரங்கத்தில் சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்றது.  

தொழிற் சங்க நடவடிக்கைகளுக்காக இடைநீக்கம் செய்யப்பட்ட  சென்னை கல்பாக்கம் அணுமின் நிலைய ஊழியர் சங்கப் பிரதிநிதிகளுக்கு  ஆதரவாகவும் கல்பாக்கம் அணுமின் நிலைய நிர்வாகத்தின் தொழிற்சங்க பழிவாங்கும் நடவடிக்கைகளுக்கு எதிராகவும்  மத்தியசங்க அழைப்பை ஏற்று   இந்தக் கூட்டம் நடைபெற்றது. மேலும்  சம்மேளனத்தின் முன்னாள் செயலாளர் தோழர். ஜெயசீலன் நினைவாகவும்  சிறப்புக் கருத்தரங்கு  நடைபெற்றது.

கூட்டத்திற்கு  மகா சம்மேளன மாநிலத் தலைவர் தோழர். J . ராமமூர்த்தி தலைமை தாங்கினார், சாஸ்திரி பவன் ஒருங்கிணைப்புக் குழுவின் பொதுச் செயலர்  தோழர். சாம்ராஜ் வரவேற்புரை யாற்றினார் . நிகழ்ச்சி தொகுப்பினை  மாநிலப்  பொருளாளர் தோழர். சுந்தரமூர்த்தி அவர்கள் அளித்திட நினைவேந்தல் உரையை  பொதுச் செயலர் தோழர். துரைபாண்டியன் அவர்கள் ஆற்றிட ' HIRE  AND  FIRE ' என்ற தலைப்பில்   நோக்கியா , ஹூண்டாய் , TCS , IBM  போன்ற பன்னாட்டு நிறுவனங்களில்  ஆயிரக்கணக்கில்  திடீர் ஆட்குறைப்பு மற்றும் இன்றைய தினம் அற்றைக்  கூலிகளாய்  தொழிலாளர் படும் அவதி, இதே நிலை  மைய அரசின் கொள்கைகளால் நாளைய  தினம் அரசுத் துறை , பொதுத் துறை ஊழியர்கள்  அடிபடப் போகும் அவலம் குறித்தும் இவற்றை எதிர்த்திட  பரந்த அடிப்படையில்  உழைக்கும் வர்க்கம்  ஒன்று சேர வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தையும்  விரிவாகவும் விளக்கமாகமும்  CITU  வின் மாநிலத் தலைவரும்  சட்ட மன்ற உறுப்பினருமான தோழர். நூற்றுக் கணக்கான  மத்திய அரசு ஊழியர்கள் கூட்டத்தில் கலந்துகொண்டது சிறப்பாக அமைந்தது.  கல்பாக்கம் தோழர்களுக்கு ஆதரவாக  கண்டனத் தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டு  கல்பாக்கம் நிர்வாகத்திற்கும்  மத்திய சங்கத்திற்கும் அனுப்பப்பட்டது. கூட்டத்தில் எடுக்கப்பட்ட சில புகைப்படங்களை கீழே காணலாம் .
